Typhoon Chedeng Update: 5:00 PM May 25, 2011 and Signal Warning - PAGASA (Picture)

Typhoon update as of 5:00 PM, May 25, 2011: The typhoon Chedeng (with the international codename Songda) has accelerated as it maintained its strength, PAGASA reported. Chedeng has a maximum sustained winds of 130 kph near the center and gustiness of up to 160 kilometer per hour.


Chedeng is 310 km East of Catarman, Northern Samar or 12.8°N and 127.7°E.

As of 5:00 PM today, signal number 2 with winds of 61 to 100 kilometers per hour (kph) was raised to the following provinces (Sorsogon, Albay, Camarines Sur and Camarines Norte) while signal number 1 with 45 to 60 kph was recorded to Marinduque, Masbate, Burias, Ticao Islands, Quezon, Polilio Island and Aurora.

The next weather update for the Typhoon Chedeng will be released at 11:00 PM today.
